Hollywood Regency.. U got to love it

One design trend that is hot on the scene is Hollywood Regency. The trend which started in the 1920′s-1930′s and was devised to enhance the richness of a person’s home by adding glitz and glam.

The beauty is in the details- white accents, brilliantly lacquered furniture, opulent fabrics such as silks, velvets and fur (or faux fur), elaborate lighting and the incorporation of bold and vibrant colors.

“Hollywood Regency”, I can’t get enough of these inspiring looks. I’ve been adding elements of this style to my apartment and soon will be transforming my bedroom to this style.. I hope you too will also get some ideas from these pics as I have..

Sometimes small spaces beg for bold decoration.

Another Mary McDonald Masterpiece….

This room is featured in the new February issue of domino magazine and I absolutely love it!  This space reflects everything that’s hot in the design world right now:  bold graphics, glam Asian-inspired furniture, white accessories and a colorful, eye-catching wall treatment.  With green as the main color, this room has organic, natural qualities.  In contrast, it also has an electrifying appearance thanks to the striped wall featuring shades of pink and black.

Blue Monochromatic Interior By Mary McDonald

Designed to appeal to everyone, this uber chic monochromatic bedroom interior features a very subtle hierarchy of architectural details, and an inspired mix of attitude with a fanciful color scheme that is sire to enhance the ambiance and leave the room feeling sexy.

The blue chosen for this interior is a peaceful color, therefore it was a perfect selection for the bedrooms ground color, and in this bedroom interior monochromatic blue interior was created by using saturated hues of blue whit a shot of white highlighting the architectural details. In this case monochromatic doesnt mean using black and white, but simply of one color of blue. This interior is simple yet elegant and uncomplicated, which is what a bedroom should feel  like.

The blue hue has been altered with tints, adding white wall paneling, the outline of the rug, sconces, and drapery. Small touches of pink and gold were added in the bedroom interior. Pink is a combination of the color red and white, a hue that can be described as a tint. Pink was utilized by adding a small floral arrangement and two small paintings. Gold is shown in the legs of the table and mirror.  The interior is mostly blue seen on everything from the walls to the hand painted sisal rug, with dashes of a deep rosy pink.

Overall, this blue monochromatic bedroom design is very effective in showcasing how beauty can be captured with one hue. The second scheme or mini color scheme incorporated in this interior would be dark valued color, because of how bold the blue is in this bedroom.

Hollywood… Hello!

Hollywood… Hello!

The Old Hollywood style so popular with today’s starlets on the red carpet has carried beyond finger curl hairstyles and full-length gowns and into the home décor arena.

While Hollywood has always had glamour, from red carpets to the homes in the surrounding hills, Old Hollywood has permeated outside of Hollywood proper into luxurious homes everywhere.

According to Posh Interior Design, the Old Hollywood look in the home décor arena is known as Hollywood Regency, “it’s a style that looks fresh and can incorporate modern pieces, with some old-fashioned wit and vintage flair thrown in.”

To get the true essence of Hollywood Regency, you need:

1. Color: Chinese red, yellow, apple green, turquoise
2. Fantastic elements: Chinoiserie patterned wallpaper, fretwork, Morrocan style screen dividers, ornate French style carving on mirrors and lamp
3. Patterns: floral or graphic prints on chairs
4. Go big: oversized pieces work well for Hollywood Regency
5. Minimal clutter

Jonathan Franc

I seriously crave this!!!

Jonathan Franc is a new venture from designer John Bossone.

A fixture in the home décor arena for more than 25 years, Jonathan Franc marks Bossone’s first foray into having his own collection. In the past, his designs have been featured in Elle Decor, Architectural Digest, Robb Report and displayed in the famous Kips Bay Decorators Showhouse. He also worked on the furniture for the MGM Grand in Macau.

Bossone has gained quite a reputation for his ability to fuse acrylic and wood without any visible joints. His ability to create acrylic that are carefully calculated by his in-house engineers has also been remarked upon and favored by the design community as well.

One of his most interesting pieces is a desk that features a clear acrylic curve. The base of the desk is formed from a 6″ thick piece of acrylic. The curve was created through three rounds of heating and cooling from 60 degrees Celsius to 170 Celsius over a 24-hour period.

Jonathan Franc has a showroom at the Laguna Design Center and can also be found in showrooms throughout the country.
